Odessa Country Club: Course Walkthrough
A flown, hole-by-hole flythrough of the Old Course, for the conversations a plan sheet can't settle.
The problem with a plan on a table
Everyone nods at a plan on the table and then pictures something different. Tree work, a bunker change, a new tee, where a cart path should run: the conversation drifts because nobody is looking at the same ground. A flat drawing can’t settle it.
One hole at a time
So we fly each hole and cut it into a clean flythrough, shot the same way every time and keyed with its yardage and par. Now the committee, the architect, and the board are looking at the same hole, seeing what’s there. The Old Course, one hole at a time, in the order you play it.
Before and after
Because it’s flown the same way and dated, the walkthrough doubles as a record of conditions. Fly it before a renovation and again after, or early in the season and again at its peak, and the before-and-after is the real ground instead of somebody’s memory: the trees that came out, the bunker that moved, the turf that filled back in. It’s the baseline most courses never kept.
The whole course
And the whole property in one pass at first light: the establishing shot, and the cut a club can put in front of its members.
What it is for
Routing and renovation conversations that used to stall over a drawing now happen against the real hole. The same terrain work as everything else here, turned into something a room full of people can agree on.
